Opening of the Brazilian office was planned after Airbnb saw over 33,000 days of reservations made in Brazil in 2011, 17 times more than in 2010. Demand currently outstrips availability.

This includes their recent partial acquisitions of Brazilian startup Mandic which is now merged with their previously acquired business Tecla Internet. The merged business will use the name Mandic.
