I was at Campus Party when I ran into Millor Machado (who blogs at Saia do Lugar, along with Luiz Piovesana) and heard about his idea for this project. It was a blog that would centralize the posts of other blogs and sell advertising jointly across the participating blogs. He said ReadWriteWeb Brasil (run by Diego Gomes) was the other blog participating in the project, and and he invited Startupi to join. The Internet & American Life Project, from the Pew Research Center and the Imagining the Internet Center of Elon University, interviewed 800 recognized market experts to see what they thought the internet would be like in 2020. W3C is an international consortium with the mission to lead the web to its full potential, creating standards and guidelines that will guarantee constant development. More than 80 standards have already been published, among them HTML, XML, XHTML and CSS.
Following the deliberations by the Internet Management Committee in Brazil and the requirements of W3C, the Center for Information and Coordination of dot BR opened a W3C office in Brazil - the first in South America. W3C in Brazil promotes lectures at universities and supports public and private-sector entities. In late November it is promoting a large event in São Paulo. Read more…

The bubble bursts: it’s a frightening expression. Not like “hyperactivity” or “nerd” which have acquired a positive (and era-defining) connotation. The bubble bursting: an act or effect of business and investment standards which cannot sustain itself. A lack of vision, performance, or prospects?
The world has experienced several crises, such as the first Internet bubble in 2001. Credit for that went to novelty and expectations, which weren’t moving in step with reality’s comportment nor with business practices. It wasn’t the first localized crisis to have world wide effects, nor the first to be overcome slowly.
This year, when Barack Obama assumed the presidency of the United States, he said hope for the country to overcome the crisis lay with small, innovative businesses. What luck, then, that in Brazil as well as overseas, incentives for digital culture and entrepreneurism are in vogue, expressed in so many kinds of events. Read more…
