A few days ago I met with two enthusiastic young entrepreneurs. After having studied and worked in the field, both in Brazil and abroad, they decided to build a tool to help make life easier for new entrepreneurs. Now they are promoting their first product - a social network that includes a directory with virtual business cards, CRM, a B2B guide and client-satisfaction ratings. Meet Empreendemia.
Empreendemia is a network for professional contacts in which your business can organize client and supplier contacts in a simple, quick way; get to know new businesses; make new business connections; and promote the reputation of your business via evaluations by your customers. Read more…

There was a time when we had to depend on the mass media for coverage of events we couldn’t attend. Today the coverage is interactive and collaborative: participants comment live on the internet (Olivia Mitchell has published an interesting ebook about the use of backchannels like Twitter).
Some events, like Intercon, offer platforms to map, encourage and add value to content that the public shares, even calling on the public to write articles for an official collaborative book about the event. Others, like TEDxSP also have real-time coverage via Twitter. Read more…

As in the previous edition about Generation Y Startupi is providing content for the magazine ResultsON: Smart Business. This time the theme is “social media in business.” Instead of writing it myself, I’ve passed the opportunity to Gilberto Jr, director of SocialSmart (a business which is invested in Startupi). He will be speaking and writing on the theme, which he practices in daily life after all.
The event includes a series of talks and will take place starting at 4pm on Av. Juscelino Kubitschek. Participation is free - just sign up here. Check out the schedule.

The campaign Pixel Solidarity, created by Ogilvy with the purpose of generating donations to the GRAACC Institute, won the bronze medal from El Ojo de Iberoamerica in the Interactive/Viral Marketing category. It was boo-box who was responsible for the campaign going viral via social media. Read more…

More than a month ago we started tracking events revolving around Brazilian startups, social media and digital innovation. Just when we thought we’d noted them all, we found even more.
It’s a clear sign that the market is hot: there are sponsoring businesses; professionals sharing their expertise; an interested public wanting to learn and network; and traditional media outlets and blogs reporting and commenting.
Taking into account that these events are of interest to our audience, we are inaugurating an events page on Startupi. Read more…

Today is the official launch of the Alpha version of Pio.la, a platform for open virtual conferences for Latin American innovators, where one creates events in which anyone can participate via streaming video. In this way it intends to promote entrepreneurism and innovation in Latin America, and contribute to creating communities.
Despite just having launched, Pio.la has already opened its doors to the community and registered more than 100 Ibero-american users. The adoption of this new web service is getting the attention of both the founders and their potential audience. Read more…
