There was a time when we had to depend on the mass media for coverage of events we couldn’t attend. Today the coverage is interactive and collaborative: participants comment live on the internet (Olivia Mitchell has published an interesting ebook about the use of backchannels like Twitter).
Some events, like Intercon, offer platforms to map, encourage and add value to content that the public shares, even calling on the public to write articles for an official collaborative book about the event. Others, like TEDxSP also have real-time coverage via Twitter. Read more…

The photo is from the North American event, taken from the site.
It’s a good event. Tell me if you went, okay? And remember this coming week there will be a lecture on the web and a workshop in São Paulo with the founder of Facebook. Cheers!

The discussion came from the claim that US-trained developers are not employable by Indian standards. It was Vineet Mayaro, CEO of an outsourcing company called HTC Technologies, who first said it. His theory being that the informality of the so-called hacker culture does not train professionals in the methodologies and processes required to develop quality software. The discussion has led to a polarization, comparing Silicon Valley with India, and in my opinion Brazil is going to get thrown into the mix, too. Read more…
