I spent a year and a half researching the role that digital media had in the American elections, traveling through New York State in search of stories from the 2008 elections. As a result I’ve produced a video documentary about the subject, called Obama Digital. I was left wondering how the techniques used by Obama would apply to Brazil. Read more…

More than a month ago we started tracking events revolving around Brazilian startups, social media and digital innovation. Just when we thought we’d noted them all, we found even more.
It’s a clear sign that the market is hot: there are sponsoring businesses; professionals sharing their expertise; an interested public wanting to learn and network; and traditional media outlets and blogs reporting and commenting.

Did you try using the tag #trick in your tweets today? Strange things can happen if you use the tag #treat, too. Seriously!
“Trick or treat” is the American expression used by costumed children on Halloween (October 31st) to get candy from their neighbors.
This is the first time Twitter has followed Google’s “wave”, a long history of customizing their logo for special days. Oddly, today Google hasn’t done it.

Today we are announcing the beginning of a partnership with the Miami-based blog Pulso Social, which features articles on entrepreneurship, technology and social media with a focus on Spanish-speaking Latin America.
Pulso Social has a presence in Miami, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina (among others), and has followed a similar path to that of Startupi. Both blogs share the mission of disseminating, clarifying and cultivating Internet entrepreneurship. Because of this, it was an easy decision to collaborate on our materials. Read more…
