Today is the official launch of the Alpha version of Pio.la, a platform for open virtual conferences for Latin American innovators, where one creates events in which anyone can participate via streaming video. In this way it intends to promote entrepreneurism and innovation in Latin America, and contribute to creating communities.
Despite just having launched, Pio.la has already opened its doors to the community and registered more than 100 Ibero-american users. The adoption of this new web service is getting the attention of both the founders and their potential audience. Read more…

Today we are announcing the beginning of a partnership with the Miami-based blog Pulso Social, which features articles on entrepreneurship, technology and social media with a focus on Spanish-speaking Latin America.
Pulso Social has a presence in Miami, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile and Argentina (among others), and has followed a similar path to that of Startupi. Both blogs share the mission of disseminating, clarifying and cultivating Internet entrepreneurship. Because of this, it was an easy decision to collaborate on our materials. Read more…

“Twitter is even making less money than newspapers” was the most tweeted phrase during the ONA (Online News Association) conference, which took place at the end of last week in San Francisco. Evan Williams, co-founder of Twitter, said it after the host of the event confirmed that the value Twitter had reached and the interest of investors in the business were making journalists jealous.
