Want to work in a startup? Need someone to work in yours?

Pedro Mifano Motoryn and Maria Isabel Miranda have launched a beta site for their startup, which is an employment site for startups that lists job openings and professional profiles for employees.
The idea for MaisStartup was born when Pedro and Maria Isabel looked at the gap in the market for startup employment. Traditional job placement services and websites didn’t have a category for startups. “We aren’t like other sites: it’s not just about building your resume or furthering your career. Some people want to be part of something bigger, to learn about entrepreneurship and to work in an entrepreneurial environment,” explains the MaisStartup site.
It’s a site for startup employment that brings together talent (who might difficulty finding startups to work for) and startups (who often have difficulty putting together a team). Inspired by overseas models like Startuply and Enternships the idea also stimulates discussion about the characteristics of startup work.
Both founders have been project coordinators at the Center for Entrepreneurship and New Business, at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (GVCenn); Pedro still works at a private equity fund (Angra Partners) and Maria Isabel is a strategic consultant at A.T. Kearney. “We developed an internship program for Startups with the Endeavor Institute, which - given the interaction with startups we had - led us to this new opportunity,” said Pedro.
They saw that there was no “point of contact” between entrepreneurs and potential employees with a special desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment. The site includes testimonials from people who have stories to share and a news aggregator. They seem to have come up with a premium tool for social recruiting!
