Brazil has one of the largest communities of developers and experts for this product from Adobe (originally from MacroMedia). In fact, a Brazilian developer went to work for rich media shop EFM in San Diego, became the Interactive Director, and is now bringing an event to Brazil to further encourage adoption of the platform.

“The objective of Flash Camp Brazil is to showcase Adobe’s platform, which consists of Flash, Flex and AIR. There are a number of companies in Brazil developing great solutions; they will be attending the event, speaking along with international experts, and interacting with the audience.”

This is the message from Demian Borba, who hails from Rio de Janeiro (by way of Curitiba), now lives in Maceió, and spent several years with EFM, in the US. He convinced the board at Adobe to support a Flash Camp in Brazil (Flash Camp also takes place in several American cities).

Flash Camp Brazil will take place January 15 and 16 in Maceió, AL. The registration system on the site is an example of Flex technology: it was produced with Tangu, a product from the Brazilian company Sandbox.

AIR is a technology that allows the production and display of files cross-platform, with one file extension: .air. One example is the well known app Tweetdeck, a desktop application for managing Twitter accounts. It’s similar to Yahoo’s Sideline, which uses the same technology. Take a look at an array of apps from around the world that use AIR.

If you are an Adobe developer or have an interest in getting to know local and global experts, you should sign up for Flash Camp. There will also be a special “ignite” section where experts will present their work, competing for prizes.
