#PS10, choosing the most promising startups for 2010
Diego Remus on October 27, 2009
Nowadays anyone can take on the web. Thanks to the internet, there is a reduced need for funding and an increased demand for things like innovation and the implementation of ideas.
Thus, over time, various web companies have been created that despite being limited businesses at first had great potential for growth. These companies, born from entrepreneurial spirit, are known as startups - a term that distinguishes them from other new businesses, suggesting a link to the new economy, an intrinsic value such as the development of new technologies and contributions to the innovation of a nation.
In order to show and recognize the work that is being done in Latin America, Pulso Social is holding a selection of the ten most promising Latin American startups for 2010. Last year, for example, the list of selected startups included Popego (Argentia), Psicofxp (Argentina), Wamba (Spain/Uruguay), and Needish (Chile), among others. Now we’d like to find the new web ventures that are developing.
For this purpose the community can nominate their favorite startups using this form, which will be open for submissions until October 25. The only requirements to nominate a startup are:
- It must be in existence for less than 3 years;
- It must earn less than US$1 million per year;
- It must have some interesting new product that is scalable and high impact.
After this first round, the 10 most suitable startups will be invited to present their projects online for a global public of journalists, entrepreneurs, investors, bloggers and opinion makers. In this presentation they will be able to receive feedback from experts in the subject and from the web community in general.
