There are now 174 participating members in the social network created around the FGV/Unifacs Startup Competition, which takes place in Salvador at the beginning of December.
This time, the teams are competing for a spot in the finals of the FGV Latin Moot Corp, which is one of the biggest entrepreneur competitions in Brazil (the winner represents Latin America at the Global Moot Corp® Competition in the USA).
This type of event aims to attract projects that are being incubated by entrepreneurial businesses, and that have a technological basis, in order to present them to investors. In the previous edition, the winning startup presented the Guia das Peças. Besides the competition itself, the event has speakers and discussions about entrepreneurship, venture capital and the sources of funding available in Brazil.
There will be a panel on sources of investment for startups, with professionals Augusto Camargo (Adrenax Capital), Camilo Telles (Bahia Angels), Gustavo Motta (Fundo Criatec) and Carlos Lino (GCM Capital), and a talk about entrepreneurship and creating startups with Yuri Gitahy (Aceleradora).
The Competition for High Performance Startups and Entrepreneurship is being coordinated by Renê Rodrigues (GVCenn), Gian Carlo Martinelli (GV Cepe), Juliano Seabra (Endeavor Institute) and Yuri Gitahy (Aceleradora). The judges will be Juliano Motta (Criatec), Carlos Lino (GMC), Augusto Camargo (Adrenax) and Likiso Hattori (Unipartners). Additionally, collaborators in the event will be Carolina Spínola (Unifacs), Elisandro Lima (Viewnet), Grinaldo Lopes de Oliveira (Prodebb), Paula Oliveira (Panamericana), Rafael Araújo (Implementar), Rafael Costa (Jus Brasil) and Urbano Matos (Qualitech).
This edition of the event is sponsored by SEBRAE, and is supported by national investment funds (Fundo CRIATEC and ADRENAX Capital) and by international entities (ENDEAVOR Institute).
The participating startups: Portal dos Games, Cat and Dog, Select You, Start Music, Web Wearing, Pós-Graduação, Best Travel, MBA, Infotime, Faz Delivery, Virtua Dec, Eu Vou, DJump, Quero Me Casar, Safe Cash, Wish Box, Deply, BRTrans, Green E-Commerce, Mahamoti, Buscar, We Music, Invest Map and Unidade.com.
According to Jacque Chicourel, the professor who organizes the event, Salvador has been the starting point for several technology businesses, from Power.com (aggregator of social networks) to MTM Technologia (developer of mobile applications), Zapcare (an on-line health portal), Teradesk (developer of apps for Google Android), Jusbrasil (a portal for justice content) and others.
Of these, two have already been in competitions for innovative projects: Teradesk in particular was among the top 20 in the world in an international competition put on by Google in 2008.
