Microsoft SOL announces something new for entrepreneurs at The Hub São Paulo

Diego Remus on November 21, 2009

18-11-09_1221-300x225The morning of November 18th marked an event co-sponsored by Startupi, The Hub São Paulo and Microsoft SOL (Startups OnLine). The program included speakers on the subject of management support and access to credit for startups, and was part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (organized by the Endeavor Institute). The slogan for Global Entrepreneurship Week: Make It Happen! (Bota pra fazer!)

At this event Microsoft announced BizSpark One, a new addition to their program supporting software entrepreneurs. Successful entrepreneurs and investors talked about information technology, entrepreneurship, innovation,  management support and access to credit.

For Silvia Valadares (in charge of Regional Economic Development in Software for the Microsoft Startups OnLine program), the event created the ideal opportunity to both feature a year of involvement with more than a thousand tech entrepreneurs and to announce BizSpark One. “Here at The Hub we have the perfect space for speaking directly with people in startups, in a format that is light, informal, interactive and involved.”

18-11-09_1225-300x225For Maria Piza (who is in charge of relations and partnerships at The Hub São Paulo), the event was an excellent way to attract more than a hundred people interested in finding ideal conditions for developing their innovative projects. “Everything Microsoft said, and the testimonies of the entrepreneurs and investors, had everything to do with the type of discussion that interests members of The Hub. The event also served to show us we can host an event of this size and structure, creating a synergy between different stakeholders with an interest these sorts of things.”

I thought a selection of some of the testimonies would be nice to share, but it would be unfair in light of the enormous importance and context of everything that was said. Instead, take a look at the full videos of the speakers: Silvia Valadares (MS SOL); Marcos Tanaka (Boo-box); Jonny Ken (Migre.me, Kingo Labs); Merwyn Lowe (P3D) and Eric Acher (Monashees Capital).

The introduction I gave about the Brazilian startup scene in the Latin American context, the talk by Maria Piza (The Hub São Paulo) and the presentation by Osvaldo Barbosa de Oliveira (MS Online and Consumer Services) will be on the DVD Microsoft is preparing.
