Founded in July 2007, Sonico has more than 42 million registered users (more than 8 million in Brazil alone), and allows people, organizations and brands to interrelate in a productive, fun, easy way, keeping control over the privacy of available information.

Sonico is a container for OpenSocial apps, as is Orkut, enabling developers to implement new functionalities. This provides more useful and fun experiences for the end user, and less intrusive methods for brands and companies to relate to the public.

In the Buenos Aires offices Sonico has a team of more than 80 professionals and was chosen by BusinessWeek as the fifth ranked technology startup with the greatest potential for global growth. In  May 2008 Sonico received funding of US$ 43 million in its first round.
