November was excellent for startups, with all sorts of events going on! These Brazilian startups were featured in international events: Navegg, Drimio, HelpSaude, SiliconReef and Ninui. Besides these, hundreds more were carrying on with their day to day work and demonstrating their products, even if they were under the radar.

December brings the holiday season, with all sorts of get-togethers, mingling with friends and colleagues, and parties at schools, at home, in your neighborhoods and at football games… For those caught up in entrepreneurship and the Internet, the schedule can get complicated!

The first big entrepreneur’s event on the Brazilian calendar for December was the presentation by Ben Huh (of ICanHazCheezburger and FAILBlog fame) at YouPix - regarding a successful US company. After that the startups came out for the Startups FGV/Unifacs competition, which took place December 2-4.

This week there is a workshop at the Microsoft Innovation Academy (part of the MS SOL program), on the 7th, 8th and 9th. Also on the 9th is Ovelhas Negras (Black Sheep), the next ResultsON Day, being promoted by the “intelligent business” magazine, which is a partner with Startupi.

This session will be a “day of intelligent results,” where the entrepreneur of the year will be announced, as will the 49 startups to watch, all selected by vote (see how it ran last year). The occasion also marks the launch of another issue of the magazine, focused solely on startups - containing a column by Startupi, written by yours truly. In addition, Romero Rodrigues from Buscapé and other stars from the startup universe will be there to talk about access to funding. For those who want to learn to make a nice pitch for Christmas or the New Year, or just feel that even a lost Black Sheep marching to a different drummer can lead the band… these events will offer some great tips and networking.
