#BotaPraFazer (Make it Happen): Startupi will be part of Global Entrepreneurship Week
Diego Remus on November 12, 2009
Semana Global de Empreendedorismo (Global Entrepreneurship Week), with its slogan “Make it Happen” (Bota pra fazer), is an event designed to awaken the entrepreneurial spirit. This year it is being held simultaneously in 90 countries.
In Brazil the event is being led by the Endeavor Institute, and there will be lectures, workshops, games, fairs and other initiatives taking place around Brazil, to help make you more enterprising.
Startupi will be participating in two ways: 1) I will be the official Tweeter of the Week, doing the coverage of several activities; 2) and Startupi has joined with the Microsoft SOL (Startups On Line) program and the system of innovation for social businesses at The Hub in São Paulo to promote a special event.
The Global Entrepreneurship Week (Brazilian site is here) begins Monday the 16th of November and continues until Sunday the 22nd. Startupi’s event will take place on Thursday the 18th, from 10am to noon, at The Hub São Paulo, in partnership with Microsoft SOL.
Both Startupi and MS SOL will make a quick summary of the year’s activities and offer news; representatives of The Hub will speak about entrepreneurship in social businesses; the venture capitalist Eric Acher, of Monashees Capital, will speak about investments; and several invited entrepreneurs will present their work. There are still opportunities for presenting new startups.
Other events that are part of the Week, which I intend to cover:
- Brasil: The route to a more entrepreneurial country - seminar with webcast - the 16th at 8am;
- Connecting with Tomorrow, organized by the Junior Achievement Association of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, the 16th, in the afternoon;
- ResultsON Day Social Media, the 17th at 4pm in São Paulo, SP;
- Tire do Papel, hosted in Campinas by the startup Empreendemia and by Unicamp, the 19th in the morning;
- Research Project: “Relating to Entrepreneurship and its Main Difficulties,” online all week;
- Online event, all week, organized by Comunique-se, focused on the Story of Successful Entrepreneurs;
- Talk by Guy Kawasaki at the Third Entrepreneur’s Seminar, Rio de Janeiro;
- The $1 challenge, organized by The Money Camp, website not yet announced;

I recommend the lecture “Who messed with my tire?” on the 16th, in Campinas. I enjoyed the Entrepreneur’s Booklet, written by the community of Global Entrepreneurship Week and available through the social action group Manufacturing Entrepreneurs. Any suggestions of other events - please mention them in the comments!
